Though he has no formal training in music, seventeen-year old Tom O’ Brien from Australia, began making music when he was thirteen. Raine was created in 2015 with the idea of making solely ambient music though that quickly changed as he longed for diversity and more aggressive elements within my music. Tom says, “Raine as a personal directive is not a clear one; it is my best attempt at being diverse in the music that I create yet still trying to capture emotional elements with each piece. I am a resident at Upscale Recordings which hosts brilliant artists with common musical taste and sound. Music to me is something that is so powerful in its emotional subjectiveness; it can feel so personal to infinitely many different people.”
Once he completes his last year of schooling he will be able to invest more time into creating music that he is truly happy with. He says, “I’m very excited for the future of the Raine project. The future looks to hold many big projects from myself in music, hopefully writing an album and working on creating a solid purpose and direction for the rest of “Raine’s” timeline, however long that may be.”
Featured below is his track “Mind”

Until he was nineteen he listened to post-rock, screamo, and emo music. Underground producers like Suicideyear, Terio, Friendzone were his idols then. After discovering Soundcloud he was exposed to Soundcloud-wave and 808-anime-emo-trap music. His online friend, Max Kemmett (MOMENTS), opened his eyes to the beautiful, clean aesthetics of Japan and Japanese culture that still inspires him in his music today. Now he mainly listens to beatless ambient music such as Celer, Gallery Six, Chihei Hatakeyama, Hakobune and other similar music.

“Spaceless”: I made this track to have a open space feel, that had some rhythmic sounds that keeps the listener grounded to a solid platform that the listener can explore.
“A New Dawn”: Was made from an ideal what will it sound like when I take my first step towards shamanism and understanding about the ancient usage of “Plant Medicine” from the forests of Peru called “ayahuasca” this journey will take me to know the ways of the shaman, mother ayahuasca is calling me….Thako Othiamba Davidson AKA Omniverse Sound Designs.

Birtawil is a minimalist one piece project from Bordeaux, France that started early 2015. The idea behind the project was to just play with sound without boundaries nor directions, the complete opposite of the artist background, coming from more classical bands in hardcore, post-hardcore and the black metal scene. Even though he was using multiple guitar effects to create new textures and ambiances for his very first band, he discovered ambient and drone music very late, and realized it was a path he could take all by himself.
His latest release, Kenal, is available from Bandcamp
